In 1953 Scuderia Lancia entered three of their beautiful Pininfarina designed D20's, fitted with supercharged 2.7 litre V6 engines, into the Le Mans 24 hour race. Here you see car number 63, driven by the successful Formula One driver Jose Froilan Gonzalez, which he shared with the veteran Clemente Biondetti, speeding through the esses, chased by the #7 Talbot Lago T26 GS Darracq of Pierre Levegh and Charles Pozzi, closely followed by the Ferrarri 340 of Giuseppe Farina and Mike Hawthorn. The #63 Lancia D20 unfortunately retired after a long and hard fought battle in the 21st hour with engine problems covering 213 laps
